Silicone injection (HCR) · Precision injection

Precision injection.

Rubber moves, shrinks and flexes, so precision in silicone means something different from precision in metal. It means parts that come out the same, batch after batch, and fit the thing they're meant to fit.

The detail

Precision in a flexible material

We don't publish tolerance figures as a headline. What's achievable depends on the grade, the wall section, the size of the feature and how the part is measured — a soft seal measured free-state behaves very differently from a firm part measured in a fixture.

What we do promise is a documented approach: shrinkage modelled for your grade, tool steel finished to suit, a measurement method agreed before first article, and results recorded for every batch.

Where it fits

Typical precision work

Seals with mating housings

Sealing lips and beads that must line up with a groove every time.

Fine ribs and features

Thin ribs, small bosses and textured areas that need consistent fill.

Parts for automated assembly

Components fed by machine, where consistent size matters more than absolute size.

How we run it

How we make precision repeatable

  1. Agree the measurement method

Which features matter, how they're measured, free-state or fixtured. Written down before the tool is cut.

  2. Tool for your grade's shrinkage

Cavity dimensions allow for the shrinkage of the specific grade you've chosen.

  3. Tight process windows

Temperature, pressure and cure time held in a narrow window and recorded.

  4. Batch measurement

Critical features measured on every batch and trended, so drift is caught before it matters.

To quote it

What helps us quote

01

The critical features

Mark the handful of dimensions that really matter. Tightening everything adds cost without benefit.

02

The mating part

A sample or drawing of what it fits into tells us more than a tolerance block.

03

How you'll inspect at goods-in

We'll match our method to yours so results agree.

04

The grade

Different grades shrink differently. If it isn't fixed yet, we'll help choose. See our tolerances guide.

Questions

What people usually ask.

Why won't you give a tolerance figure up front?

Because an honest figure depends on your part. We'd rather agree a realistic, measurable specification for your geometry than quote a number that only applies to a test block.

Is LSR more precise than HCR?

Often more repeatable on thin, fine features. HCR can be just as consistent on firmer, chunkier parts. We choose per part.

Rough annual volume, target unit price, and any deadlines. That's enough to work out whether compression, LSR injection or something else is the right tool.
