Electronics-grade manufacturing · Ingress protection seals

Ingress protection seals.

Outdoor sensors, washdown controls and portable devices all need to keep water and dust out. The seal usually decides whether they do.

The detail

Designing for the real environment

Ingress tests are a snapshot. Real products see temperature cycling, UV, cleaning chemicals, and years of being opened and closed. A seal that passes on day one needs to keep passing.

We pick grades for weather and chemical resistance, design sections that recover after compression, and test samples through cycling where the application needs it.

How we run it

How we approach it

  1. Environment review

Water, dust, UV, chemicals and temperature.

  2. Seal design

Section and grade for long-term recovery.

  3. Trial fits

Samples fitted and tested with your housings.

  4. Batch consistency

Hardness and dimensions checked per batch.

Questions

What people usually ask.

What if our product has already failed an ingress test?

Send us the housing and seal. Diagnosing a failed seal is something we do regularly.

Is silicone the best material for outdoor seals?

Silicone and EPDM are both excellent outdoors. Silicone handles wider temperatures; EPDM is often more economical.
