Compression moulding · Industrial compression

Industrial compression moulding.

Pads, buffers, bellows, grommets and seals for machines that have to keep running. Industrial compression work is about the right compound and a part that lasts, not a showroom finish.

The detail

The right compound first

Industrial rubber parts fail through the wrong material far more often than through poor moulding. Oil swells the wrong rubber, ozone cracks another, heat hardens a third. So we start with what the part will be exposed to.

Once the compound is right, compression is usually the right process. The tooling is affordable, the materials range is wide, and flash sits on faces that nobody inspects in a machine guard.

Where it fits

Typical industrial parts

Anti-vibration pads and buffers

Mounts and stops that take repeated impact.

Bellows and boots

Protective covers for moving shafts and joints.

Grommets and seals

Cable entries, housing seals and pipe seals.

How we run it

How we approach it

  1. Environment review

Fluids, temperature, weather, ozone and mechanical load.

  2. Compound selection

EPDM, nitrile, silicone, fluorocarbon or natural rubber, matched to the environment.

  3. Tooling

Straightforward compression tools, multi-cavity where volume supports it.

  4. Batch supply

Regular batches against your schedule with a simple batch record.

A sample or drawing

Worn samples of a failed part are useful; they tell us how it failed.

02

What it's exposed to

Oils, chemicals, water, sunlight, heat.

03

Hardness

Or the job it does: cushioning, sealing, protecting.

04

Annual quantity

Industrial parts are often bought in steady batches; tell us the rhythm.

Questions

What people usually ask.

Can you replace a part from an obsolete supplier?

Often. We'll work from a sample, suggest a compound and make a new tool. See tool transfer if you still have the old tool.

Do you make rubber-to-metal bonded parts?

Yes, through metal insert moulding.

Rough annual volume, target unit price, and any deadlines. That's enough to work out whether compression, LSR injection or something else is the right tool.
